WHO WE ARE
Rescue, Release, and Restore.
“We foster a community created for listening, teaching and responding to the needs of young children.”
The Rescue, Release, and Restore camping experience is an experience of a lifetime for young African American youth, ages 8-17, who are interested in being challenged to their full potential in life.
HISTORY
1993
The male program, SIMBA, Safe In My Brothers Arms, was instituted in 1993 when a group of African-American community leaders and leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recognized that there was a need to mentor young black males into becoming healthy, non-violent leaders.
2003
Rescue, Release, and Restore, Inc. was incorporated as a non-for-profit 501 c 3 entity with the mission of mentoring young black males into becoming healthy, non-violent adults through the Safe In My Brothers’ Arms (SIMBA) camping experience.
2007
Rescue, Release, and Restore (RRR) adds the Safe In My Sisters’ Arms (SIMSA) camping experience; expanding the reach of RRR to African American young ladies; providing a safe space to examine their lives, their choices, and their futures.
2016
Rescue, Release, and Restore (RRR) adds the Multicultural Youth Leadership Academy (MYLA) camping experience; further expanding RRR to offer young men and ladies in high school (ages 13-16) a safe space where they will be developed and refined as leaders for a multicultural world.
